What to expect from your eyelid surgery abroad

In order to have eyelid surgery, one of the very first things that you have to do is decide whether you need the upper eyelid or the lower lid enhanced.  Often the best result comes from opting to have both the top and the bottom done at the same time.  Our surgeon will of course provide you with his recommendations specifically for you after reviewing your photos or if you are available in Cyprus after a face to face consultation.   The service is provided free of charge and is without obligation.

Eyelid surgery does require the use of a local anaesthetic and the recovery time can last between 7 to 14 days when you can expect some bruising and swelling.    You will have your stitches removed after one week and often patients are already bruise free at that point, however every patient is different.  The scarring afterward is minimal and our surgeon will align the scar with the natural crease of your eyelids so that the scar is not obvious.

Here are some tips of things that you can do to speed up recovery:

• Sleep propped up with several pillows keeping your head elevated.
• We recommend the use of ice for the first 48 hours, 20 minutes on 20 minutes off, apart from when you are sleeping and eating, this reduces both bruising and swelling.  We will show you the easiest way to do this.
